Process performance requirements
The mold manufacturing process involves forging, cutting, heat treatment and other links, and the materials need to have good process adaptability:
Forging performance
It is necessary to refine the grain and eliminate looseness through forging, so the material should have good thermoplastic properties to avoid cracking during forging. For example, Cr12MoV needs to be forged in the range of 850-1100 ℃ and cooled slowly.
machinability
The rough machining (turning, milling) stage requires materials with moderate hardness (HB200-250 after annealing) to facilitate tool cutting. After annealing, the hardness of high-speed steel is higher (HB255-285), and the cutting difficulty is greater than that of Cr12MoV.
Heat treatment performance
Stable hardenability (ensuring core hardness) and small heat treatment deformation (avoiding dimensional deviations after precision machining) are required. For example, DC53 has better hardenability than Cr12MoV and is suitable for manufacturing large-sized concave molds.
After heat treatment, it should be able to maintain high hardness stably and avoid softening caused by temperature rise (heat generated by cold pier friction) during use.
